The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at 1515 Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other times with advance notice. We're all-volunteer and need at least a couple of days of advance notice to schedule appointments.

This beautiful young lady is Louisa, a Dilute Tortoiseshell with beautiful vivid coloring! She has some of the most beautiful smoke blue and peachy pink dilute hues we've ever seen! Louisa also shares distinct Maine Coon features to go along with her original look. She's approximately 6-8 months old, which means she may still have some growing to do! We don't believe she'll reach typical Maine Coon proportions - she will likely stay under 20 lbs. as an adult. Louisa may have been attacked by another animal (we hope it wasn't inflicted by a person) due to rather unsightly puncture marks on her back. The areas have been shaved to treat the wounds topically. She has already completed antibiotics, and her wounds are healing wonderfully!
Louisa is very friendly and loves receiving attention from people. She frequently hops onto ledges or furniture to politely ask for attention! We recently discovered she's pretty nosy - she loves nooks, crannies, bags, boxes, and caves! She wants to be around people and will do whatever it takes to seek out somebody to pay attention to her or just to sit with. She should do fine with kids who can handle her gently. She does well around other gentle and friendly cats, but Louisa wouldn't mind being the only cat. Please stop in at our cat adoption center or contact us to meet Louisa!

Our flat adoption fee is $75, a fee to help defray a fraction of veterinary costs and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits, and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care. Vet records are provided to adopters. Read the descriptions thoroughly and note the specific personalities or special criteria we recommend (some are not good around kids, other cats, dogs, etc.). We cannot accept applications from minors or legal dependents. Read up on our adoption process . Then , if you feel your home might be the right forever home and you would like to adopt this cat, submit an online application form.
